Transform used oil
into free hot water

A Kent company is marketing and distributing a boiler that converts waste oil into heat for car wash water, radiant floor hat and other applications.  The Shenandoah/Columbia WL60 Waste Oil Boiler pays for itself within 18 months and results in lower heating bills and no cost for disposal of used oil, says Howard Levens, CEO of Northwest Industrial Equipment of Kent.  So far, the boilers have been installed at a BP Station in Lynnwood and the new Gray Line if Seattle bus maintenance facility in West dealerships, truck repair and maintenance facilities, transit-mixed concrete plants and greehouses.   The boilers burn used motor oil, transmission fluid, hydraulic fluid and other petroleum-based lubricants.  A 1,700-pound unit cranks out 235,000 to 800,000 British thermal units.  Depending on the boilers' size and options, they range in cost from $8,500 to $15,000 before installation.  Northwest Industrial Equipment works with local mechanical contractors who install the boilers.
